I enjoy photography and writing.  My travels take me all over the world and I enjoy experiencing new places.

This blog will be a place to share books, images and writing.

I hope you will enjoy it and I would appreciate any comments and finding out what you enjoy.

Orange County seems to be city after city but there are some wonderful nature areas where you can enjoy walks and feel like you are far away from urban life.  Here are a few of my favorites. Flowers, raindrops, waterways, beaches, trees and trails.

I am working on an online gallery store.  It’s been fun selecting images and testing out the options for sizes, paper, framing and mattes.

This is very much a work in progress and I would appreciate any comments and suggestions on how you find the store.  Although I have selected frames and mattes for each of the photos you can order prints only in different sizes, or you can use the “Customize” function to view the photo with different frames and mattes.  Its interesting to see how these affect the image and make it pop.

So far there are photos from Pakistan, Nova Scotia, and a gallery on cloth.  More galleries are in the works.

I spent a fun few hours shooting cloth blowing in the wind. The patterns of sun and shadow, different designs and changing light all made this a fun shoot. Here are just a few of the photos.  Click on an image to see a larger photo.  If you are interested in any larger sizes let me know – davies@eckova.com

See some of these in my new gallery of prints and framed photos.  Customizable sizes, frames and mats.

See some of this art work in my newly launched gallery. You can see framed and unframed versions of the prints and view or order online. I would appreciate any comments on how you find the framing and mat selection.

Nathiagali is one of the most beautiful of the hill resorts in the Galyat area of Pakistan. It is just two and a half hours drive north of Islamabad gradually climbing higher and higher and with spectacular views along the way. The Galyat area has been a favorite summer get away region since the early days of the British. There are many old government and company rest houses as well as family hotels and cottages. There are numerous short walks and longer hikes and treks if you enjoy walking. Horses are easily available for trail rides.

The pine forests, flowers, birds and monkeys are all a treat and as in any mountainous area the weather can be very changeable. We even had a hail storm one afternoon (in June) and it was chilly enough to want warm clothing in the night and early morning.

The colors and textures of rock formations are really amazing. The area was a dry river bed with some of the large rocks having a pool of water at the base and surprisingly having fish and tadpoles swimming around. A few herds of goats, camels, beautiful butterflies and a colorful red dragonfly sunning on a rock. The hills in the distance were very misty looking – likely from dust in the air. Even though the area was dry a few small colorful flowers and bushes survive the dry conditions.

A short ferry ride from the main port of Karachi takes you a step back in time to Manora Island. You can walk around the entire island in just a couple of hours. Small tea shops, fishermen with their nets on the far side of the ocean, people strolling on the white sand beach, a colorful mosque, an old Hindu temple, and buildings from the time of the British Raj.

Play of light on the waves and early evening sunsets.

Spring has arrived in Southern California with its flowers and birds. A wonderful time for wandering and photographing. I particularly enjoy the tiny flowers that show so much character when they are up close. The early morning mist beads these with jewels. These photos were taken at the Upper Back Bay Newport Beach.

There have been some brilliant sunsets this month in SoCal.
